Recently, I was talking with a group of friends. Global Climate Change came up as a brief topic of conversation. One of my conservative friends (possibly my only one) said (I'm paraphrasing) "Actually, higher temperatures in the Arctic are good for polar bears. Higher temperatures means more energy."
Ok. I didn't think this was correct, but I wasn't sure. I mean, there was some logic to it on the surface, so I didn't say anything.
From today's USA today:
"Polar Bears, dependent on the ice floes to pursue seals and other prey, are going hungry, losing weight and having trouble reproducing as their hunting grounds disappear... The World Conservation Union predicts this month that the world's polar bear population will drop by 30% over the next 45 years..."
Ok, so from what I can tell, that doesn't sound good for polar bears. Am I going to call him on it? No. In the past, conversations with the only (I'll admit their are few) conservatives I know have not gone well. It always ends in a real shouting match. I'm not saying all conservatives are like this, just the ones that I know.
I'm just wondering, is this what the conservative press is saying (which I know this person consumes) or did they come up with this on their own?

No worries, the arctic glaciers are back to full size. Thanks to global cooling. Whats that you say? You didn't know that we are now in a global cooling cycle? Well, we are; and, it's shaping up to be a big one too - could last 50 years or more.
If you really believe that CO2 can heat things, up. Then tell your government officials, we need more global warming to counteract the cooling. That means more driving SUVs and eating more beans.
Your are so right, one winter totally reverses the Global Warming trend, you tool.
